LEAD STORY

At Affinity Inc Magazine, we are dedicated to the growth and prosperity of LGBT businesses and employees. Our mission is also focused on the companies in corporate America that are fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces and supply chains. Once a year, we honor those companies that are cultivating economic stability in the LGBT community and ensuring the fair treatment of LGBT employees, suppliers, consumers and partners. These companies are our Top Corporations for LGBT Economic Empowerment.

This year, we selected 85 corporations that established a multi-layered and visible commitment to the LGBT community and value the contributions of LGBT employees, suppliers and customers. Not only do they ensure LGBT equality internally, but also go above and beyond to support LGBT equality outside their operations. Their core values impact the people and communities they serve.

Our Top Corporations for LGBT Economic Empowerment are among the top-scoring employers on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s recently released 2015 Corporate Equality Index and have active LGBT employee resource groups or resources set aside for employees to form an ERG. They have demonstrated a robust dedication to bringing LGBT-owned businesses into their supply chains, are active partners with our Pillars of Business Equality and have taken a positive stand on marriage equality and civil rights for LGBT individuals.

Of our 85 Top Corporations for LGBT Economic Empowerment, 49 have taken additional steps to safeguard LGBT equality as members of the Business Coalition for Workplace Fairness. The BCWF is an alliance of U.S. employers that support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a federal bill that, if passed, would require all employers to provide the same basic protections to all workers. Currently, LGBT employees are not protected under federal law from being fired or discriminated against.

These companies have taken significant steps toward enabling true financial empowerment to help LGBT individuals bring about economic change for themselves and their communities. We salute these companies and look forward to telling their stories in 2015 — from their support of LGBT entrepreneurs, to highlights of their events and best practices and profiles of their leaders and influencers.
