A Complete Guide to NGLCC LGBTQ+ Business Enterprise Certification

Becoming a certified LGBTQ+ Business Enterprise (LGBTBE) through the National LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) can open doors to corporate supply chains and government contracts that might otherwise be difficult to access.

The certification signals to corporate buyers and government procurement officers that a business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by LGBTQ+ individuals — making it eligible for supplier diversity programs at hundreds of major corporations.

To be eligible for NGLCC certification, a business must be for-profit, at least 51% owned by one or more LGBTQ+ individuals, and the LGBTQ+ owner(s) must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The application process involves submitting documentation of business ownership and LGBTQ+ identity, as well as a site visit or interview to verify that the LGBTQ+ owner(s) are actively involved in managing the business.

Certification fees vary based on business size, with reduced fees available for small businesses. Annual renewal is required to maintain certification.

Once certified, LGBTBEs gain access to the NGLCC's corporate member network, procurement opportunities, and business development resources. Many certified businesses report that certification has been a significant driver of new business.
