Q. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?
A. I wanted to be a WWE superstar. I love the psychology, storylines and dedication each performance takes.
Q. What does your company do?
A. We are a defense contracting firm. Our multifaceted approach in our service model and program offerings spans different industries while prioritizing our B2G model. From serving all crime survivors with prevention literature, training and services to construction and VA lawn care services all the way to basic goods, our product offerings are vast and diverse.
Q. How long has your company been in business?
A. We started during the pandemic, August 2020.
Q. Can you tell us about why and how you started the company?
A. Colorful Voices was started to provide all crime survivors the opportunity to rediscover that fire within us. I was among those discarded. I was told the only thing of value I did was serve my country and I “couldn’t even do that well,” and that reignited my flame to create Colorful Voices. A safe space.
Q. What has been your biggest business challenge in the past year?
A. Financing. We pivoted in our strategy. Identified our strategic partnerships. We re-evaluated our business plan and business model canvas to accurately reflect Colorful Voices and our model.
Q. What is one thing that makes you stand out from your competition?
A. The way we show up for our clients, customers and team members allows us to stand out. We see our competition as an opportunity to collaborate.
Q. What do you wish you had more time to do?
A. I wish I had more time to attend wrestling events.
Q. What’s your favorite place in the world you’ve ever visited?
A. I lived in Japan during my time in service. At 8 years old, I told my mom I would do three things:
1) move to Japan, 2) encounter some difficulty and 3) move to Japan. I love the culture, the community and the perseverance. Japan is a beautiful country.
Q. What is one piece of business advice you would offer your LGBTQ+ peers?
A. Connect with your affiliate chamber of commerce. Get active. Get certified.
